05 December 2007
AGE-NC Project No. 97-0327
• Monitoring well MW-5 will be located between 95 and 105 feet south-southwest of well
MW-4 to assess shallow 1.2-DCA-impacted ground water downgradient of MW-4.
Soil samples will not be collected for laboratory analysis; however, soil samples will be collected
at 5-foot intervals for logging purposes. Soil boring P-17Jwill I e only be advanced to approximately
55 feet bsg for collection of,a shallow grab ground water sample (i.e. first ground water); however,
soil borings P-ly, and P-1'will be advanced to depths of approximately 95 feet bsg for collection
of shallow, intermediate (approximately 75 feet bsg) and deep grab ground water samples
(approximately 95 feet bsg);monitoring well MW-5 will be advanced to a depth of 65 feet bsg.Total
depth of each boring may vary slightly according to geologic conditions encountered during drilling.
Field procedures for advancement of borings and well installation are presented in Section 3.1.
Field procedures for grab ground water sample collection is presented in Section 3.2.; selected grab
ground water samples will be analyzed by a State of California Department of Health Services
(DHS)-certified laboratory for the following constituents:
• Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline and diesel (TPIi-g and TPH-d
respectively) in accordance with EPA Methods 8015 Modified and
• Volatile aromatic compounds-benzene,toluene,ethylbenzene and xylenes(BTEX),methyl
tert-butyl ether(MTBE), 1,2-dichloroethane(1,2-DCA),ethylene dibromide(EDB),tertiary
butanol(TBA),di-isopropyl ether(DI PE),ethyl tert butyl ether(ETBE)and tert amyl methyl
ether (TAME) by EPA Method 8260 Modified.
Laboratory reports for the ground water analyses, testing methods, laboratory quality
assurance/quality control (QA/QC) reports, and sample chain of custody documentation will be
presented in a report with findings and recommendations.
2.3. MONITORING WELL DEVELOPMENT AND SURVEY
The proposed soil boring MW-5 will be completed as a 2-inch diameter ground water monitoring
well. Following well installation, the well will be developed to maximize water flow and minimize
the amount of' fine-brained sediment drawn into the well during pumping or bailing. After
development, the top of each well casing (well head) will be surveyed to determine its elevation
relative to mean sea level and global positioning system(GPS)coordinates, for submittal to the State
of California GeoTracker database. Procedures for well installation, development and survey are
presented in Sections 3.1 through 3.4.
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
