06 January 2003
AGE-NC Project No. 02-0896
Page 4 of 7
The soil boring will be advanced to a depth of approximately 70 feet bsg or until ground water is
encountered. Soil samples will be collected from the boring at a minimum of five-foot intervals.
Procedures for advancement of soil borings and soil sampling are presented in Section 4.1.
Up to six soil samples from the initial boring will be selected for laboratory analysis. Sol samples
for laboratory analysis will selected based on visual observations of petroleum hydrocarbon impact,
organic vapor meter(OVM)readings,changes in lithology,and/or at the capillary fringe. Select soil
samples will be analyzed by a State of California Department of Health Services (DHS)-certified
laboratory for the following constituents:
• BTEX by EPA Method 8260B;
• Total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline (TPH-g) by EPA Method 8015
Modified;
• Fuel oxygenating compounds including di-isopropyl ether(DIPE), ethyl tertiary-butyl ether
(ETBE), MTBE, TAME, TBA, ethanol, and methanol by EPA Method 8260B; and
• Lead scavenger compounds ethylene dibromide (EDB) and 1,2-dichloroethane (1,2-DCA)
by EPA Method 8260B.
Laboratory reports for ground water analyses,testing methods,laboratory quality assurance/quality
control (QA/QC)reports, and sample chain of custody documentation will be presented in a report
with the findings and recommendations.
3.3. GRAB GROUND WATER SAMPLE COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS
A grab ground water sample will be collected from soil boring and submitted for laboratory analysis.
The grab ground water sample will be collected at the first encountered water-bearing zone utilizing
hydropunch-equivalent sampling techniques. Grab ground water sample collection procedures are
presented in Section 4.2.
Groundwater samples will be analyzed by a State of California DHS-certified laboratory for the
following constituents:
• BTEX by EPA Method 8260B;
• TPH-g by EPA Method 8015 Modified;
• Fuel oxygenating compounds including DIPE, ETBE, MTBE, TAME, TBA, ethanol, and
methanol by EPA Method 826013; and
Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc.
