M
Monitoring Well Design
RWQCB-MRP Requirements, Clearwater Group
I 1817 South Fresno Avenue, Stockton, California
Five monitoring wells will be installed, which will:
• Be drilled using an 84nch auger,
• Be advanced to the depth of the plume, up to 35 feet below ground surface (bgs).
• Have a 24nch Schedule 40 PVC well casing, with 0.020 machine-slotted screen placed across the
lower 15-foot groundwater producing zone (between 10 and 35 feet bgs),
• Have a sandpack of #3 sand separating the screened interval from native materials and extending
from the bottom of the boring to two feet above the screen, to prevent dredging of fine materials
by the well,
• Have a minimum 5 feet (or longer) of bentonite above the sandpack,
• Have a cap composed of a minimum of 5 feet of neat cement, and
• Accommodate an in-casing submersible pump for potentiaql use as an extraction well.
The configuration is intended to monitor potential off-site migration of the hydrocarbon plume across a
deeper screen range than existing monitoring wells.
