KLE€NFELDER
The SJCLHD files for the Mobil Oil Bulk Plant also contained documents on the 1986
RWQCB investigation of an underground waste oil tank. According to the documents,
Mobil Oil representatives requested to the SJCLHD, on October 27, 1986, that the
investigation be considered closed. The Mobil Oil documents indicate that contaminated
soil from the Mobil Oil facility was removed and disposed offsite, and that the ground
water had not been impacted. The reviewed documents did not indicate the disposal site.
According to Mr.Jaime Favila of the SJCLI-M, Mobil Oil has not supplied his office with a
hazardous waste manifest to document proper disposal of the contaminated soils or
analytical results from confirmatory soil samples. The investigation is considered open
until Mobil Oil provides the necessary documents for review and approval by the SJCLHD.
Petrolemn hydrocarbon and lead contamination of the soil and ground water is suspected
to be present at the PG & E facility. The source of contamination is reportedly a leaking
underground gasoline storage tank According to the RWQCB file, the extent of
contamination is suspected to reach the northern property line of the facility, and an
investigation is in progress to further assess the extent of the contamination.
Low levels of petroleum hydrocarbon contamination of the soil were reportedly present at
the former Handyman facility, according to a site assessment report by Applied
Geosystems (August 26, 1987). The source of contamination was two leaking underground
storage tanks containing diesel fuel. The facility was referred to the RWQCB for further
investigation_ (Note: refer to RWQCB information onp age 6).
The Fortifiber facility, located at 501 East Acacia Street, is a laminated paper product
manufacturer. Petroleum hydrocarbon contamination of the soil and ground water is
reportedly present at the Fortifiber facility. The source of contamination was two
underground storage tanks containing diesel fuel. The underground storage tanks were
removed on April 10, 1987. According to documents in the file, an investigation to
determine the extent of contamination was recommended to Fortifiber by the SJCLHD.
No additional information was available in the file regarding the status of the
recommended investigation.
Records were on file for Leprino Foods documenting an anhydrous ammonia leak from an
aboveground storage tank. The approximated 500-gallon leak required a one hour
evacuation of the plant and the Greenoaks; Mobile Home Pari;, located adjacent to and
137-38-1690 7
