(Geomatrix) has <br /> prepared this application for,permits to install extraction wells at the subject site (Figure 1). Two <br /> completed application forms and two checks for$89.00 each are enclosed. CPL plans to construct and <br /> I• operate a remediation system to reduce the mass of residual petroleum hydrocarbons in the subsurface <br /> at the site. This proposed remediation is described in the 15 November 1996 Geomatrix "Remedial <br /> Action Work Plan" (enclosed) which was approved by the Regional Water Quality Control Board — <br /> Central Valley Region-(RWQCB) in a 27 November.1996 letter to CPL (enclosed). The remediation <br /> I` will include installation of extraction wells for the combined removal of soil vapor and groundwater. <br /> Soil vapor and groundwater will be extracted from a total of 8 wells (Figure.1). One of these wells is <br /> an existing groundwater monitoring well (MW-12). Four wells (EX-1, EX-6, EX-7, and EX-13) will <br /> be installed between 10 and 115 feet north of the curb of Grant Line Road, which is the property <br /> easement. The City of Tracy Encroachment Permit No. 97-44 covering the:installation of these wells is <br /> enclosed. The other three extraction wells (EX-2; EX-3, and EX-4) will be installed within the <br /> property owned by Cardoza Properties, Inc. An access agreement between CPL and Cardoza is <br /> enclosed. <br /> Well Installation <br /> For•the extraction wells, soil borings will be advanced using a direct-push method for collection of soil <br /> samples, and a drill rig equipped with hollow-stem augers will subsequently be used for installation. <br /> These extraction wells.will be constructed of 4.inch diameter Schedule 40 PVC casing and screen, <br /> installed in 10-inch diameter borings advanced to.approximately.25 feet below ground surface (Figure <br /> Geomatrix Consultants, Inc. <br /> Engineers,Geologists,and Environmental Scientists <br /> I.VROJECR395813958SX.DOC - ' <br />
