PART 2 - MATERIALS <br /> A Conductor Casing <br /> 1 Well conductor casing shall have a minimum thickness of 3I8-inch and shall <br /> meet the requirements of ASTM A 53, Grade B, Type E or S, or API 5L, Grade <br /> B Conductor casing wall thickness may be increased at Contractor's option to <br /> facilitate grouting and prevent collapse <br /> 2 The steel conductor casing shall: have a minimum 40-inch O D Fabricate in <br /> lengths not less than 20-feet It shall be spiral welded or contain one longitudinal <br /> seam parallel to the casing axis and not more than one circumferential seam in <br /> 10 feet <br /> 3 Joints in the conductor casing shall be securely welded and shall be watertight <br /> The ends of each joint shall be machine beveled perpendicular to the casing <br /> axis Provide casing centralizers as indicated in the drawings Centralizers shall <br /> be of the same chemical and physical properties as the well conductor casing <br /> 4 All casing material shall be new <br /> B Grout Seal <br /> 1 Cement shall conform to ASTM C 150, Type II <br /> 2 The material used to seal the upper portion of the well shall be a sand-cement <br /> grout The grout mix shall consist of not more than two parts by weight of sand, <br /> one part by weight of cement, to 5 gallons of water per sack of cement, unless <br /> otherwise approved by the Engineer and the State of California, Department of <br /> Health Services <br /> PART 3 - EXECUTION <br /> A Well Conductor Casing Borehole <br /> Drill a borehole to a diameter not less than 46-inches and to a depth of 50-feet below <br /> ground surface <br /> B Well Conductor Casing Installation <br /> 1 When the hole boring operation has been completed, install the 40--inch-0 D <br /> conductor casing <br /> 2 Butt-weld field joints during installation with a minimum of three passes per <br /> circumference Exercise special care to ensure that the casing is straight <br /> Welders shall be certified in accordance with AWS D10 9 for level AR-1 and shall <br /> be qualified in the 2G and 5G positions or the 6G position <br /> 3 Weld three steel guides positioned 120 degrees apart horizontally to the exterior <br /> of the casing at intervals of not more than 20-feet to centralize and hold the <br /> casing in the proper position until the grout sanitary seal is in place Place the <br /> first set of guides 5-feet from the bottom of the conductor casing Align the <br /> guides vertically to allow unimpeded passage of a temporary tremie and the <br /> permanent gravel feed tube to the full depth of the casing <br /> August 2001 Division 111 -8 Ball Park& Park& Ride Wells Ph 1 <br />
