10 November 1995
AGE-NC Project No. 95-0111
On January 5, 1994, five soil borings were drilled at the site by AST. Three of the borings were
completed as two-inch diameter ground water monitoring wells. Laboratory analysis of soil samples
from the borings indicated low concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons in four of the five borings.
Impacted ground water was present in samples from two of the three monitoring wells.
Ground water samples have been collected x from each well at the site. Ground water occurs
at a depth of approximately 8 feet and the hydraulic gradient was calculated to be toward the north
and northeast.
3.0. PROPOSED SCOPE OF WORK
To assess the lateral extent of hydrocarbon impacted soil and groundwater at the site, the San Joaquin
County Public Health Services - Environmental Health Division (PHS-EHD) has required further
investigation.
AGE proposes to drill one boring in the City of Tracy right-of-way (upon approval by the City of
Tracy), across Grant Line Road, in the sidewalk, to continue assessment of the impacted soil and
ground water. This boring will be completed as a two-inch diameter monitoring well. The proposed
locations of the soil borings are illustrated in Figure 2.(
4.0. PROCEDURES
To meet the project objectives, the following procedures will be performed:
1) Notify the San Joaquin County Environmental Public Health Services - Environmental Health
Division (PHS-EHD) 48 hours prior to commencement of any work.
2) Drill a boring using a truck-mounted drill rig equipped with continuous-flight, 8-inch diameter
hollow-stem augers. The boring will be drilled to a depth of 15 feet. The boring locations
are depicted on Figure 2.
3) Obtain soil samples at five-foot intervals using a split-tube sampler loaded with three pre-
cleaned brass tubes.
4) Preserve soil in the lead brass tube by covering both ends with aluminum foil, capping, and
sealing with tape.
5) Label and log soil samples on a chain-of-custody form.
