10 June 1997
AGE-NC Project No. 95-0111
Mage 2 of 5
3.0. REGIONAL GROUND WATER ELEVATION
The estimated depth to ground water at this property is approximately 10 feet below surface grade
(bsu), based on information from Lines of Equal Depth of Water Wells, Fall 1995 published by the
San Joaquin County Flood Control District and Water Conservation District.
4.0. SCOPE OF `CORK
At the request of Ms. Mary Meays of the San Joaquin County PIIS-HHD, the investigation, of the
former UST will require the installation of an additional ground water ,.vell to determine the eastern
lateral extent of gasoline-impacted ground water. At a minimum, one additional ground water
monitoring Nvells should be installed in Grant Line, approximately 75 to 100 feet cast of the location
of~well MW-5. assuming that this location is down-gradient or equi-gradient of the release.
4.1. DRILLING AND SAMPLING
The scope of,,vork will include the advancement of one soil boring to a total depth of approximately
15 feet below surface grade(b.-6j), collection of soil samples. and the installation of a 2-inch dianleser
ground water monitoring well. The proposed boring location is depicted on Figure 2.
A soil boring will be advanced utilizing a truck-mounted, drill rig equipped with 8.25-inch hollow-
stem augers. Soil samples will be collected at five-foot intervals beginning at a depth of 5 feet bsg.
preserved acid placed in a chilled container for transportation to a state-certified laboratory. Soils will
be described using the Unified Soil Classification System (USCS and ATSIvi D-2489). Soil sample
descriptions and PID screening results will be summarized on boring logs prepared for the final
report.
4.2. EQUIPMENT DECONTAMINATION
All sampling tools and brass sleeves used for sample collection will be thoroughly rinsed ,with clean
water after washing with a solution of Alconox. All hollow stem augers will be steam-cleaned prior
to advancement in each borehole.
4.3. MONITORING WELL COMPLETION
The soil boring will be completed as a 2-inch diameter ground water monitoring well. A proposed
