(ContiGroup)French
Camp Grain Elevator facility at 9504 South Harlan Road in French Camp (site). The Report
discusses the pilot test that consisted of extracting groundwater from monitoring well MW-3B
and disposing of the groundwater off-site. Although concentrations in the groundwater
decreased, there was a small radius of influence from the pumping. Based on the small radius of
influence and constraints due to the site being active with heavy equipment and hauling trucks,
the Report states groundwater extraction is not a feasible remedial alternative. The Report
proposes two phases of Hydrogen Releasing Compound(HRC) injection. The first phase would
include multiple injections at the downgradient extent of the plume, the progress of which
ContiGroup would monitor for six months and then use the results to design the second phase of
HRC injections.
The Report proposes to submit an application for waste discharge requirements that will include
the proposed injection points. The application needs to include bench-scale study results to
determine appropriate discharge and monitoring requirements. By 10 June 2003,please submit
a work plan to conduct bench-scale testing for the use of HRC.
