(ATC) has prepared this workplan to
present a scope and schedule to perform further assessment of the contaminant plume at Quik
Stop Market No. 132 located at 3555 West Hammer Lane, in Stockton, California (see Figure 1).
This workplan has been prepared based on a letter from the San Joaquin County Public Health 3
Services, Environmental Health Division (PHS/EHD) dated December 12, 2000. The scope of
work is to perform an additional site assessment, on-site and off-site, to better define the vertical `
and lateral extent of petroleum hydrocarbon concentrations," and methyl tert-butyl ether (MTBE)
in particular, in soil and groundwater. In addition, a feasibility study will be performed to-evaluate
at least two remedial.-methods for reducing concentrations of MTBE at the site. Background l
information on the history of environmental investigation at the site is included as Appendix A.
OBJECTIVE
The objective of the proposed scope of work is to more accurately define the contaminant plume at the
subject site, at the request of the'PHS-EHD. In addition, a feasibility study will be performed to make
a cost-effective comparison of at least two different remediation methods for MTBE at the site. These
objectives will be fulfilled by (1) obtaining depth.discrete groundwater, samples at the water table
adjacent to existing groundwater monitoring wells (depth to water is above the screen interval in some
of the shallow aquifer wells),'(2) installing a cluster of two wells adjacent to soil boring SB-3, and (3)
t
