for Sand A (MW-14A)and Sand B (MW-14B). This well will be used to
j define the eastern edge of the plume in the downgradient direction for
Sand A. Sand B will also be targeted to determine if there is any vertical
migration of contaminants in this area. The extent of impact in Sand B has 0
not been fully characterized throughout the site and this data will help to
determine the extent to which Sand B has been impacted. The wells will
be separated into separate well constructions to avoid cross contamination
between Sand A and Sand B in the event that Sand B is determined to
have no impact.
o One groundwater monitoring well (MW-15) will be located to the
northwest of MWO-3. This well will be used to define the northern extent A-
?
of the plume. The 4`h Quarter 2006 groundwater monitoring results 15
indicate that groundwater flow has shifted to a northwesterly direction at a r /-T 7
gradient of 0.002 in the vicinity of MWO-3. Since the northeast extent of Put
the plume has been identified in Sand,A with non-detectable results in
MWO-1,the northern extent of the plume should also be addressed. MW- b
15 will provide this valuable data. MW-15 will be installed as a well
cluster with a separate well construction for Sand A (MW-15A) and Sand
B (MW-1513). Sand B will be targeted to determine if there is any vertical ms`s
migration of contaminants in this area. The extent of impact in Sand B 0
has,not been fully characterized throughout the site and this data will help 30- y
to determine the extent to which Sand B has been impacted. The wells P111 cr, 7
will be separated into separate well constructions to avoid cross
contamination between Sand A and Sand B in the event that Sand B is
determined to have no impact.
o If laboratory analysis of the grab groundwater sample collected early on
from MW-15 indicates MTBE impact in this northern well, then the extent
of the plume will not have been identified in the northern direction. Well
MW-16 will then be installed along J Street, just east of South Harlan
Road to further define the extent of the MTBE plume in this direction. If
groundwater concentrations of MTBE are not detected in MW-15, then
MW-16 will not be installed.
o If laboratory analysis of the grab groundwater sample collected early on
from MW-13 indicates MTBE impact in Sand A,then the western extent
of the plume will not have been identified in the western direction. Since
groundwater flow has varied from a northeast direction during previous
quarterly gauging events to a western and northwestern direction in the
most recent gauging event, it is justified to determine the extent of
possible impact in the western direction. Well MW-17 will be installed if
MTBE impact is found to exist in MW-13. If groundwater concentrations
are not detected in MW-13,then MW-17 will not be installed.
Environmental Remediation Group Page 4 Site Assessment Work Plan
Project No.0406 Joe's Travel Plaza
