t o The entire excavation and operations area will be wetted down prior to <br /> each excavation day. <br /> o Sprinkling of the excavation will continue as required during soil handling <br /> operations. <br /> ' o All dust will be completely removed from excavation equipment and <br /> storage bins prior to them leaving site by brushing all loose soil and dust <br /> from all surfaces and tires. <br /> ' o Transport bins will be equipped with dust tarps to contain all soils. <br /> ' o Operations will be suspended when dust migration can be visibly identified <br /> in the vicinity of the excavation. <br /> 3.2.3 Air Emission Monitoring <br /> ' Monitoring of the ambient air for DBCP will be required to assess the <br /> concentration of airborne emissions in the excavation area and to document <br /> ' average concentrations at the perimeter of the work zone. Monitoring of the <br /> excavation area will be accomplished as follows: <br /> ' o Duringearth moving operations, a Photoioni <br /> 9 p zation Detector (PID) <br /> instrument will be utilized generally downwind of the immediate area of the <br /> excavation operations to monitor instantaneous fumigant emissions. The <br /> ' purpose of the PID monitoring will be to evaluate the adequacy of the Level <br /> B protection specified for the excavation personnel and to assess the <br /> source concentration of emissions generated by the excavation work. <br /> 11 <br />
