All personnel working in active work areas must complete <br /> the required training prior to starting work. <br /> r <br /> 10. 0 MEDICAL SURVEILLANCE <br /> The medical surveillance program consists of evaluations to <br /> determine fitness for the job assignment, including fitness to wear <br /> %W respirators, consisting of a pre-employment exam, an annual <br /> evaluation, and an end-of-employment evaluation, in accordance with <br /> 29 CFR 1910. 120 and 8 CCR 5192 . In addition, a special evaluation <br /> .6 is warranted upon notification by the employee that they have <br /> developed signs or symptoms indicating a possible over-exposure to <br /> hazardous substances. <br /> All subcontractor personnel, visitors and regulatory personnel who <br /> will enter the exclusion area are expected to participate in a <br /> medical program which is equivalent to or exceeds this program. <br /> L <br /> Copies of the physician's written opinion for the capability <br /> to work on a hazardous waste site and the ability to wear a <br /> respirator must be made available to the HSO for each worker at the <br /> b"' initiation of the work activity. <br /> 11. 0 TRAINING REQUIREMENTS <br /> All personnel on site must have training and experience which meets <br /> '~ the requirements set forth in 29 CFR 1910. 120 and 8 CCR 5192 prior <br /> to the initiation of work on the site. This includes a 40-hour <br /> initial course, three days of supervised on-site experience, and <br /> annual 8-hour refresher training. Field supervisors will have an <br /> additional 8-hour course for safety management. In addition, all <br /> site personnel will be adequately trained to perform the specific <br /> �., work assigned. <br /> Prior to implementation of the workplan, all on-site personnel will <br /> receive site-specific training which includes: <br /> Chemical Hazards <br /> Physical Hazards <br /> �+ Site Control and Decontamination <br /> Emergency Plan <br /> Protection Levels <br /> Proper Use and Maintenance of Protective Equipment <br /> This training will be provided by the HSO. <br /> -7- <br /> Environmental Health Consultants <br />
