' Fourth Quarter/Annual
2008 Groundwater
' ARCADIS Monitoring Report
Chevron Bulk Fuel Terminal
100-1621
' 22888 Kasson Road
Banta,California
Field Procedures
' Existing Wells
G-R collected water level and separate phase hydrocarbon(SPH)measurements from
the monitoring well network on November 5 and 6,2008.Water level measurements
were used to calculate the water table elevation at each well and develop a
' potentiometric surface map of the site. The data allowed for subsequent estimation of
the groundwater flow direction.
' Groundwater samples were subsequently collected from 15 monitoring wells including:
MW-226, MW-236, MW-24A,MW-25A, MW-26A, MW-27A, MW-28A, MW-29A,
MW-30A, MW-31A, MW-32A, MW-47A, MW-50A, MW-50B and MW-51A.
Groundwater samples were collected in accordance with California Environmental
Protection Agency(CaIEPA)procedures outlined in Representative Sampling of
Groundwater for Hazardous Substances(CaIEPA, 1995).
' An approximate three well volume purging and sample technique was performed using
either a disposable bailer or a decontaminated stack pump and disposable bailer for
' groundwater purging and sample collection. Monitoring and sampling was conducted
using the following series of activities and protocols:
• During the purge cycle of the 15 sampled wells, groundwater field parameter
' measurements consisting of specific conductance,pH and temperature were
measured using a groundwater quality meter
' • Approximately three times the volume of standing water was removed from the
sampled monitoring wells and field parameters were recorded on a well
volume basis
' • Pre-purge measurements were taken for dissolved oxygen and oxygen
reduction potential from every monitored well and post-purge measurements
' were taken from the 15 sampled wells
• After the purge cycle of the 15 sampled wells was complete,a groundwater
' sample was collected for analysis with a disposable polyethylene bailer and
transferred to the appropriate laboratory-supplied sample containers preflled
with preservative
' 3of17
