Kooyman Dairy Drug Clean Up page 2
6787 E. Jahant Rd, Acampo CA.
i
If the tank compartments are tight and free of cracks, the compartments may be '
filled with sand or contaminant-free native soils, or as EHD recommends,
completely dug out and properly disposed of. Please submit an -EHD `Septic
Tank Destruction' permit application and the $89 application fee as soon as
practicable.
EPA requirements stipulate that you are to collect a sludge sample from inside
the hard/leach line, approximately two to four feet from the septic tank. The
sludge sample is to be analyzed`for VOCs by EPA Method 8260. If
contamination is detected in the sludge or there are cracks in the septic tank, the
tank, lines, and any impacted soil must be completely removed under permit and
witness of an EHD inspector. The soil, piping, and the septic tank waste
generated under this option are to be disposed of properly and records of the
methods are to be included in the report of findings due at EHD upon completion
of this task.
if the sludge sample is non-detect for VOCs at acceptable detection limits and
the tank is free of cracks, the tank may be filled in-place and the lines may be left
in place.
Once this septic system has been adequately inspected and addressed, the
solid, dried waste and the drums have been properly disposed of, and EHD has
reviewed and approved the report of findings, an appointment to final off the new
septic system installation for the trailer can be scheduled with Mike Huggins at
(209) 468-3437.
Please advise EHD of a time when the septic tank has been drain and will be
ready for visual inspection and the sampling of the inside of the lines near the
tank can occur. This site is currently listed on the Housing Board of Appeals
agenda set for June 16, 2002. if all of these requirements have been adequately
addressed prior to this date, this case can be removed from the agenda.
Thank you for your cooperation in dealing with this manner. You may contact Mr.
Infurna at (209) 468-3454 to schedule an appointment or need any assistance.
Donna Heran, REHS, Director
t
Enviro mental Health Divisio
Michael J.
