ADDITIONAL I)WORMATION REQUIREMENTS—AkSE I SYSTEM
SUTTER HOME WINERY
LODI, SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY
1) Describe the prevailing wind directions, and nearby industrial or populated areas. Provide
information on the previous land use.
2) Do active or abandoned industrial, agricultural, domestic, or groundwater wells exist on the
property or the wastewater disposal area(s)? If yes, provide a map showing their location(s).
Include available data on the depth of groundwater and information on aquifers and aquitards
identified beneath the property.
3) Describe any ion exchange (water softening),reverse osmosis, or other treatment process for
the supply water. Describe the disposal of any regeneration brine or reverse osmosis reject
water. Provide a description of the process supply wastewater; at a minimum, the process
supply water should be characterized for the following analytical parameters: nitrate, total
Kjeldahl nitrogen, total dissolved solids, and pH.
4) Provide a list of chemicals which are used in the winemaking processes, include all chemicals
used in tank, bottle, or other cleaning. Describe the sources of hot water used in the winery.
5) Describe the storage and disposal of stormwater. Describe the proposed criteria for switching
the discharge between the stormwater pond and the wastewater ponds and activities that will
be performed to purge the wastewater sumps of industrial wastewater prior to diverting
stormwater to the stormwater ponds. Describe how the criteria is protective of shallow
groundwater quality, especially at the stormwater pond.
6) Describe the domestic wastewater system. The description shall include the number of users,
location, flow rate, septic tank size, and construction materials.
7) Provide the September 1998, Condor Earth Technologies percolation test report referenced in
the Irrigation and Effluent Application Rates table. Provide the well installation report and
groundwater data for the domestic wastewater mound system.
8) Provide diagrams of surface impoundments that will be used to store wastewater or ion
exchange regeneration brine, provide diagrams and a description of the planned impoundment,
location, size and depth, construction materials, inlet and outlets, depth to groundwater below
the bottom of the pond, and existing or planned groundwater monitoring wells.
9) Provide descriptions of all assumptions and sources of data for the water balance which
evaluates the containment structures ability to provide sufficient capacity on a month by
month basis. Include monthly evaporation, precipitation, and irrigation rates as well as
monthly discharge volumes. Rainfall shall be based on the 100-year return period total annual
precipitation. Describe all assumptions employed regarding stormwater runoff from the tank
farm areas or other industrial process areas.
10) Describe the management of the wastewater facilities that are located within the 100-year
flood zone.
11) Describe measures that will be implemented to prevent groundwater from floating and
damaging the pond liners.
12) Describe management provisions that will be implemented to prevent the occurrence of flies,
mosquitoes, and odor nuisances and problems such as pond overflows (maintenance plans,
standby pumps or generators, and contingency plans, etc.).
