Brown Sand,Inc.
Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasures Plan Page: 12
June 3, 2020
Map Largest Tank Containment Containment
Location Description Volume (gallons) Construction Volume'
Waste Oil
1 and Bulk 1 000 Concrete (Vaulted) 5'365 gallons
Oils Area 17' x 14' x 5'
2 On Road 6,000 Concrete 10,473 gallons
Diesel 20 x 14 x 5
3 Gasoline 1,000 Interstitial Space of 1 100 gallons
Double-walled Tank '
5 Off Road 5,000 Steel cylindrical 5,684 gallons
Diesel#1 containment
6 Off Road 6,000 Interstitial Space of 6,600 gallons
Diesel#2 Double-walled Tank '
7 Drum 350 Concrete 515 gallons
Storage Area 17' x 9' x 0.5'
8 Service 300 Earthen Berm 2,758 gallons
Truck 32' x 23' x 0.5' '
' Where applicable tank displacement is included in volume calculations
Potential discharge volumes and directions of flow in the event of a spill or leak
from loading/unloading operations are discussed in Section 3.5. Tank loading
procedures are closely followed as outlined in Section 3.11 in order to prevent an
overfill spill from occurring, and the Spill/Discharge Response Plan, located in
Section 4.0, outlines the facility's spill response procedures.
3.4.3 Drainage of Diked Areas (40 CFR 112.8(c)(3))
The concrete secondary containment structures that house the Waste Oil and Bulk
Oil Area, On Road Diesel, and the Drum Storage Area are all located under a
canopy that limits rainfall from entering the structures. However, because the
containments are not fully enclosed, these areas may require periodic drainage
which is accomplished with a sump pump. Storm water contained within the
earthen berm around the Service Truck is allowed to percolate and therefore does
not need to be drained. The steel containment structure for the Off Road Diesel
Tank#1 does require periodic drainage. The steel containment structure has a valve
to allow drainage. If drainage of any of the areas mentioned is necessary, it will be
recorded on the form included in Appendix C of this Plan. The date, time,
approximate amount of water, and presence of oily sheen will be noted on these
logs. If an oily sheen is observed, the storm water will be properly containerized
and will not be allowed to drain out on the ground and percolate into the soil. Dike
drainage records are maintained at the facility for at least three (3)years.
