Brown Sand,Inc. <br /> Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasures Plan Page: 29 <br /> June 3, 2020 <br /> • Is the spill incidental or emergency response? <br /> • Should you evacuate or respond? <br /> b) Safety First: <br /> • Do not put yourself in harm's way <br /> • If conditions change, the spill or leak may no longer be incidental <br /> 2) Inform and Block: <br /> a) Notify an Emergency Coordinator <br /> • Inform: who, what, where, how much <br /> b) Limit traffic through the spill area <br /> 3) Protect Yourself <br /> a) What Personal Protective Equipment is needed? <br /> • Check with Emergency Coordinator <br /> • Check SDS sheets <br /> 4) Deploy Spill Response Materials <br /> a) For Incidental Spills/leaks <br /> • Absorbent socks, spill kits, absorbents, shovels, brooms <br /> 5) Bag or containerize waste <br /> a) Place waste in proper containers (i.e. 55-gallon steel drums) <br /> b) Label properly <br /> c) Store properly prior to disposal <br /> 6) Decontaminate <br /> a) Clean floors, tools, surfaces exposed to spill <br /> b) Discard used PPE <br /> c) Wash hands, face, arms, etc. <br /> 7) Restock <br /> a) Replace used spill equipment and PPE <br /> Following an incidental spill,the emergency coordinator will be responsible for completing <br /> an incident report and making notifications (as necessary) to San Joaquin County <br /> Environmental Health Department at (209) 468-3420 following the guidelines in Section <br /> 4.8. <br /> 4.6 Response to an Emergency Response Situation <br /> Emergency Response Situations are defined as one that does pose a significant harm or <br /> threat to human health and safety to the environment. Emergency Response situations <br /> are generally those where: <br /> • It may cause high levels of exposure to toxic substances <br /> • It is life or injury threatening <br /> • Employees must evacuate the area <br /> • It poses Immediately Dangerous to Life and Health(IDLH) conditions <br /> • It poses a fire or explosion hazard <br />
