' 30 June 1999
AGE-NC Project No. 98-0468
analytical methods are presented in Section 4.2. Ground water sampling procedures and protocols
' implemented at the site are presented in Appendix A.
Prior to collection of ground water samples, each monitoring well was appropriately purged and
' ground water parameters including, dissolved oxygen, temperature, pH, and conductivity were
measured for stabilization. Ground water sampling field data and logs are presented in Appendix C.
Monitoring well purge water and equipment decontamination water generating during the ground
water sampling activities were containerized in appropriately labeled 55.-ga1lon drums and stored on-
site.
5.0. FINDINGS
Discussion of shallow subsurface soil profile observed at the.site, as well as soil and ground water
analytical results are presented below.
5.1.- SHALLOW SUBSURFACE SOIL PROFILE
lie
In general, shallow subsurface soil at the site appears to consist primarily of interbedded units of
fine-grain(silt and clay)deposits and coarse-grained(sand)deposits. Based on soil samples collected
' from soil borings B-1 through B-3, B-4, and B-5, relatively coarse-grained soil consisting of sand
with silt, silty sand/sandy silt, and silty sand were encountered from ground surface to approximately
5.5 to 8.5 feet bsg. The coarse-grain soils appeared to be underlain primarily by fine-grained deposits
' consisting of sandy silt, silt;and silty clay to a depth of approximately 18.5 feet bsg. Additionally,
a silty sand.and clayey sand layer was described at a depth of 11 to 13 feet bsg for.soil boring SB 5.
Clayey.sand was observed for soil boring SB-4 from 18.5 feet bsg to the total depth of the boring of
1 21 feet bsg. Logs of the soil borings are presented in Appendix B.
' Saturated soil was encountered in the soil'borings at,approximately 8.5 to 11 feet bsg. However,
measured static water levels within the soil boring's varied from 7.60 to 8.20 feet bsg.
' No petroleum hydrocarbon staining or odor was.apparent, for any of the soil and ground water ,
samples collected.
5.2. GROUND WATER ELEVATION, FLOW DIRECTION•ANO GRADIENT
' On 06 May 1999, ground water monitoring activities were conducted at the site. Gro6d water
. monitoring included collection of ground 'water elevation measurements from each of the, site
Advanced CeaEnvironmental,Inc.
