Aquifer Pump Test Report of Findings
j Frontier Transportation, Inc.
J November 8, 2006
Page 6
44.43 %, and the total pore fluid saturation average was 80.9%. Hydraulic conductivity was identified
at 2 . 70E-07 cm/s at 5 ' bgs and increased with depth to 2. 55E-06 cm/s at 20 ' bgs. Total organic
carbon measured between 480 mg/kg and 1700 mg/kg with an average of 958 mg/kg. Specific
gravity was identified between 2.64 and 2.69 and averaged 2. 67 . See Table 2 for tabulated results
and Appendix B for the complete laboratory results.
5.0) AQUIFER PUMP TEST RESULTS
The aquifer pump test at MW-3R was performed for a total of six (6) hours with four (4)
hours of pump phase and two (2) hours of recovery phase. Initial groundwater depths were taken in
shallow wells MW-3R, MW-22, MW-23 and MW-21 and in deeper well MW- 13 . All four shallow
i wells are screened from 5 ' bgs to 20 ' bgs and deeper well MW- 13 is screened from 30 ' bgs to 40 '
bgs. All wells at the site are 2-inches in diameter. Distances from MW-3R for observation wells
MW-22, MW-23 and MW-21 are 10.5 ' , 21 . 5 ' and 56. 3 ' . See Tables 3 and 4 for depth to water
measurements and drawdown.
The pump rate was kept relatively constant and had an average of 2. 5 gallons per minute.
The pump rate for each time interval was recorded during the pump test. Furthermore, the amount of
t water discharge per set time interval was recorded and confirmed accuracy in pump rate records.
Depths to water were taken in MW-3R at set time intervals: every 2 minutes for the first 10 minutes,
then every 5 minutes up to 30 minutes, then every 15 minutes until completion of pumping at 240
minutes. Groundwater depths were measured in MW43 to confirm that pumping of the shallow
groundwater would not affect the deeper groundwater aquifer. The depth to water in MW- 13
remained constant at 10.70 ' bgs during the pump test. See appendices C and D for charts of pump
test data.
During the recovery phase of the aquifer pump test the depth to water in MW-3R was
recorded at set time intervals : every 2 minutes for the first 10 minutes, then every 5 minutes up to 30
minutes, then every 15 minutes until completion of pumping at 120 minutes. Depths to water in
MW-22, MW-23 and MW-21 were recorded at approximately every 15 minutes during both the
pump phase and recovery phase.
Analysis of the pump phase data shows that the shallow aquifer supports groundwater
pumping. At a pump rate of approximately 2. 5 gallons per minute the drawdown stabilized to
