•
ReadweSSR6110
Area 20
Arsenic is the only cancer and non-cancer hazard target compound exceeded at Area 20. One
sample, 20TP-5-1.0, contained arsenic at 110 mg/kg and five others exceeded the 20 mg/kg
cleanup level. Excavating and disposing a five cubic yard area around these samples (45 tons) at
a Class II Non-Hazardous Landfill is estimated to cost$1,850 to $2,350.
The costs associated with remedial action planning, management, and reporting, which would
likely be required by DTSC at this site include preparing a Remedial Action Work Plan and
Health and Safety Plan prior to implementing the work, a Soil Management Plan for use during
and after development, and a Remedial Action Completion Report documenting the remedial
action. We estimate that the costs for these items, would be approximately $18,000. This
estimate does not include charges that may be imposed by regulatory agencies for oversight.
• The cost for consultant oversight during the excavation, grading, and capping process, including
collection and analyses of remedial confirmation samples at Area 20 is approximately $5,500.
4.2.9.2 Operable Unit 2
Soil contamination does not present a cancer risk to construction, landscape maintenance,
commercial workers or residents at OU 2, with the following exceptions:
Construction: Arsenic (Areas 15, 21)
Landscape Maintenance,
Commercial, Residential: Arsenic (Areas 15, 21)
PNAs (Area 21)
Non-cancer hazard-based risk were calculated to exist for the following:
Landscape Maintenance: Copper(Area 21)
Residents: Total xylene (Area 15)
Copper(Area 21)
• Barium (Area 16)
30
25970318.PGS 15 November 2000
