2.0 ENVIRONMENTAL RECORD SEARCH <br /> 2.1 SITE DESCRIPTION AND OPERATIONS <br /> The site is currently an unimproved lot owned by Tracy Orchard, Inc. The property is covered <br /> with grass and sparse shrub brush but appears to have previously been surfaced with gravel. <br /> Although the site has been vacant since at least 1968, the property was historically used as a <br /> temporary parking area for trucks. <br /> 2.2 SURROUNDING PROPERTIES <br /> The subject property is situated near the western edge of a large vacant plot of land. A Shell <br /> gasoline station is located approximately 50 feet to the west, while Tracy Gas and an auto <br /> dealership are located approximately 200 to 600 feet upgradient of the site to the southwest. <br /> Property to the south of the site across Grand Line Road is used for agricultural purposes. <br /> Interstate freeway I-205 is located immediately to the north. The area to the southwest beyond <br /> Tracy Gas and the auto dealership is also used for agriculture. Land north of the freeway is <br /> presently vacant in the vicinity of the site, while property to the south and east is primarily <br /> residential in use(refer to Figure 2, Schematic Plot Plan). <br /> 2.3 GEOLOGIC SETTING <br /> 2.3.1 Regional Physiographic Conditions <br /> The subject property is located in the San Joaquin River Region of the Central Valley of <br /> California. The United States Geological Survey (USGS) 7.5-minute topographic maps for Tracy <br /> and Union Island Quadrangles were reviewed. The maps show the subject property to be at an <br /> elevation of approximately 22 feet above mean sea level (msl). The topography in the vicinity of <br /> the subject site is generally flat, sloping gently north. Site drainage is complex but generally flows <br /> north towards the San Joaquin River. The closest water bodies include unnamed aqueducts in the <br /> immediate site vicinity.
