2.3.2 Regional Geology <br /> The site is situated in-'the Great Central Valley Geomorphic Province, a region characterized by a <br /> 50-mile wide and a 400-mile long sediment-filled basin drained by the Sacramento River at the <br /> north half, by the San Joaquin River to the south, and interior drainage's at the southern edge of <br /> the basin. Dissected Pleistocene Age stream deposits of the San Joaquin River Valley underlie the <br /> site and vicinity. These deposits consist primarily of sand with some gravel, silt and clay (CDMG, <br /> 1966). <br /> The subject property is located in Northern California, a seismically active area. The closest active <br /> fault is the Midway Fault, located approximately 4.8 miles to the southwest. The San Andreas <br /> Fault is located approximately 48 miles to the southwest (CDMG, 1992).
