00-3737
At the request of PHS-EHD, Paragon placed all drill cuttings in separate, labeled 55-
gallon drums. As of the date of this Report, these drums remain staged on the sidewalk
area behind the Site building. In accordance with Cal EPA guidance, Spectrum developed
the wells on August 2, 2000 by surging them with potable water, then pumping 20 gallons
(16-21 well volumes) from each well. They disposed of purge water from each well into
its respective boring's soil cuttings drum.
Paragon collected groundwater samples from all six wells on August 3, 2000 in
accordance with our standard protocols (see Appendix D). We did not observe any odors
or oily sheen associated with these samples.
Paragon submitted groundwater samples to Zymax for laboratory VOC analysis. Table 5
below summarizes the results of laboratory groundwater analyses. Appendix E presents
Zymax certificates of analysis and chain of custody documentation.
Table 5: Groundwater Analytical Results (NgIL)
Parameter MW-1 MW-2 MW-3 MW-4 MW-5 MW-6 Standard
cDCE BDL(0.5) BDL(0.5) BDL(0.5) BDL(0.5) BDL(0.5) BDL(0.5) 6
OCE BDL(0.5) BDL(0.5) BDL(0.5) BDL(0.5) BDL(0.5) BDL(0.5) 1 n
TCE BDL 0.5 BDL 0.5 BDL QS BDL QS BDL 0.5 BDL 0.5 5
PCE 2.9 BDL(0.5) 3.5 BDL(0.5) 1.4 BDL(0.5) 5
Standard=California Department of Health Services Prima Maximum Contaminant Level(MCL)for drinking
water, BDL =Below Detection Limit(limit in parentheses
The only compound Zymax identified in Site groundwater samples above method
detection limits is PCE in the samples from PES-1, PES-3, and PES-5.
