DRAFT
Municipal Wastes: Municipal wastes are stored in covered cubic yard bins
until picked up by a contracted trash hauler.
Cardboard: Cardboard wastes from shipping boxes are compacted
and bundled for shipment to an offsite recycling facility.
The bundled stacks are stored on pallets while onsite.
Domestic Wastes: The QBR facility uses the City of Stockton's Sanitary
Sewer System. QBR discharges all domestic
wastewater to the local POTW.
Asbestos Wastes: Wastes from the stripper, knockout and de -bonding
operations are collected and doubled bagged at the
point of generation. The bagged and labeled asbestos
wastes are stored in a locked enclosed storage bin until
shipped offsite for disposal.
Washwaters: The wash waters generated at the friction core washer
are non -hazardous and are recycled onsite in the
washers. The caliper parts washer wastewater is
hazardous due to heavy metal concentrations. QBR
manages these wash waters as a RCRA Part B
hazardous waste, relying on offsite treatment and
disposal.
Wastewater Sludge: Oily sludge recovered from the parts washers and the recycling
system are considered hazardous waste due to oils and
heavy metals. QBR manages the sludge in accordance
with CCR Title 22. QBR removes and drums the sludge
at the source of generation. The labeled drums are then
stored undercover on a bermed concrete pad until
shipped offsite for treatment and disposal.
Recycled Oils: The caliper assembly operations generate waste brake
fluid and spent oil-based coating solutions. QBR stages
waste oil drums in the storage shed, located in the
manufacturing yard, until manifested for offsite recycling.
1.5.3 Equipment and Facility Maintenance
CATEMP\SMPREV2.doc Section 1-13
