2-3
RTI-SBO 1-1416
r' where:
RTI = Remcor-Tracy gCold Storage, Inc.
SBO1 = Soil Boring 1
14-16 = sampling depth of 14 to 16 feet.
In order to reduce the possibility of cross-contamination, the split-barrel samplers will be
decontaminated prior to each use in the following manner:
• Wipe the sampler with a paper towel to remove loose soil
• Wash with Alconox® and potable water
• Rinse with deionized water
r, • Rinse with hexane
• Rinse with deionized water
• Air dry.
The augers and other downhole drilling equipment will be decontaminated between borings
with a high-pressure hot water wash to reduce the potential of cross-contamination. Decon-
tamination will be completed in an area approved by TCS, Inc.
Soil cuttings from the borings will be containerized in 55-gallon drums, labeled and staged
on site. Upon receipt of the soil analytical data, the soil cutting will then be properly
disposed.
_ When a boring has been completed, it will either be backfilled using cement/bentonite grout
or a ground water monitoring well will be installed. Assuming that the depth to ground
water is 30 feet or less, three monitoring wells will be installed at the site. The field
geologist will choose three borings, which comprise a triangle, to construct monitoring wells.
Monitoring wells will address each of the areas of concern.
In each case, the typical construction will include ten feet of two-inch diameter polyvinyl
chloride (PVC) well screen (with 0.010-inch mill slotted openings) and two-inch diameter
PVC riser pipe. The screen will be installed with the top of the screened portion
:24447
