2-4
approximately two feet above the water table. A sand pack will be placed in the annular
space between the PVC and added to a height approximately 2 feet above the top of the
screen. Approximately one foot of fine sand will be placed on top of the filter pack sand and
two feet of bentonite pellets will be placed above the fine sand and hydrated. The remaining
annular space will be filled with a cement/bentonite grout and a locking protective steel cover
will be grouted in place over the well.
Water will be pumped or bailed from each well for a period of 30 to 60 minutes to remove
the fine cuttings that were produced during drilling. The water will be placed in 55-gallon
drums until ground water sampling results are received. This water will then be disposed of
accordingly.
Once the monitoring wells have been installed, Remcor will conduct a level survey to estab-
lish relative elevations at each of the newly installed wells. These data will be used to tri-
angulate ground water elevation data to determine the direction of ground water flow across
the site.
2.3.1 Former Gasoline UST
To determine if there are soils impacted by the former gasoline UST, Remcor intends to
complete three soil borings (SB-1 through SB-3) in the area within and adjacent to the former
gasoline UST location (Figure 3). These borings will be completed and soil samples col-
lected in accordance with the methods discussed above. Remcor anticipates advancing the
first soil boring to a maximum depth of 30 feet and the other two to a depth of about 15 feet.
The final depth will be determined in the field based on field observations. Soil samples will
be collected from each boring at the approximate tank invert elevation approximately 12 to
-- 15 feet for laboratory analyses. Soil samples will also be collected from each consecutive
two-foot horizon for the next 10 feet. These samples will be submitted to the laboratory but
will not be analyzed unless the analyses of soil samples collected at the tank invert elevations
indicate contamination, which may require remedial action. If additional analyses are pru-
dent, Remcor will contact Southeastern prior to requesting additional analyses.
:24447
