2-5
`-' At least one sample from each boring will be submitted to a subcontracted analytical Tabora-
tory for the analysis of benzene, ethylbenzene, toluene, and xylene (BTEX), total petroleum
hydrocarbon (TPH)-gasoline fraction, and lead. BTEX analyses will be completed using
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) SW-846, Method 8020, TPH-gasoline fraction
by Method 8015, and lead by SW-846, Method 6010.
2.3.2 Brine Solution Discharge Area
To determine if soils in the brine solution discharge area have been impacted by the past dis-
charges, Remcor anticipates advancing two soil borings (SB-4 and SB-5) (Figure 3). The
first boring will be advanced to a depth of approximately 30 feet and the second to depth of
~ 20 feet. Split-barrel samples will be collected continuously for visual identification. Sam-
Y
ples for laboratory analyses will be collected at the ground surface, at a depth of 10 feet, and
at a depth of 20 feet. One additional analytical sample will be collected at the first observed
lithologic change and/or the surface of the water table. Samples submitted to the analytical
laboratory will be analyzed for the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) metals,
hexavalent chromium, and ammonia.
2.3.3 Septic Leachfield
Remcor anticipates advancing two soil borings (SB-6 and SB-7) (Figure 2) to determine if
fluids entering the Machine Room floor drain have impacted the leachfield of the septic sys-
tem. The fust boring will be advanced to a depth of 25 to 30 feet and the second boring will
:- be advanced to a depth of approximately 15 feet. An analytical sample will be collected
from each boring approximately 5 feet the leach bed piping, unless a low-permeability layer
is encountered at a more shallow depth below the piping, in which case a sample will be col-
lected at that contact. Each soil sample will be analyzed for TPH-diesel fraction, the Target
•— Compound List (TCL) volatile organic compounds (VOCs), ammonia, and total and hexava-
lent chromium.
:2"47
