I-N 'Iwo,
During the removal of the associated water, tanks and piping, soil contaminated
with diesel fuel was encountered. The source of this contamination is unknown
at this time. The soils affected in the immediate tank and piping area were
removed and stockpiled on site. The tanks and related piping have and are
currently being disposed of as non-hazardous materials. Contaminated soils
encountered were removed and placed on Visqueen. It is our intent to bio-
remediate the ex-situ soil for reuse on the property (See attached
laboratory results concerning the ex-situ contamination.
Previously submitted as Appendix "A" to this work plan are figures 1 through 32
inclusive. These figures document the activities that were conducted at the site
from June through December, 2002.
SUMMARY OF WORK TO BE PERFORMED
Based on preliminary analytical results obtained in the investigative activities in
February it is obvious that a permit to drill and test is needed. We are requesting
approval for the following geo-technical procedures to evaluate the extent of
contamination at Teichert Tracy Rock facilities:
1. Use a 2" drilling rig with geo-probe for sampling
2. Use a PID (Photo ionic Detector) for on site testing of samples and
boring depth control.
3. Take samples at 5' increments in contaminated zone.
4. Use GPS (Ground Position System) to provide locations of borings.
5. Use an independent Geologist for sampling.
6. Use an independent Laboratory to provide laboratory analysis of
samples.
7. Use data to provide a "Voluntary" cleanup proposal.
8. Cap borings until proposal is made and plan of action is executed.
Ground water was detected via sounding at 90 foot depth. It is our opinion
that contamination did not reach ground water. After conformation that the
plume did not reach ground water, and voluntary corrective action is taken,
we would propose installing several wells based on size of plume, to prove
water is not affected. If ground water is affected, a remedial monitoring and
action plan will be submitted. Should ground water be detected during
sampling, Ground water samples will be taken and ground water sampling
wells will be installed.
5
