o`J—
coordinated with a representative of the Subject Property is required to locate any on-site underground
utilities in the project area.
Soil Investigation
BB&J's field scientist will coordinate location selection and sampling (see Figure 1) with consideration of
the following:
• Tailings pond that received waste from magnesium processing plant
• Storage and other related areas impacted by fertilizer and pesticide operation
• Location where septic tanks that were removed
• Area of historic fueling system
BB&1 will oversee the advancement of 10 soil probes (GP-1 through GP-10), using direct-push
technology (i.e. Geoprobe®) to a depth of 15-feet below ground surface (bgs) or until ground-water is
encountered,or until refusal, whichever is shallower.
Soil samples will be collected continuously until the termination depth of each soil probe. BB&J will
collect one "worst-case' soil sample from each soil probe location to assess the potential for COCs to
have impacted the subsurface [the sample assessed will be the sample exhibiting the highest field-
screening measurement, visual signs of impact(e.g.,one sample is stained and the other samples are not
at the probe location), olfactory indications of impact,and/or a combination of any of these]. BBW field
personnel will log and classify soil samples in the field using the Unified Soil Classification System, under
the supervision of a California Professional Geologist. The soil samples will be capped, labeled and
placed in a chilled ice chest for delivery to a State-certified laboratory for analytical testing. Chain-of
custody documentation will accompany the soil samples at all times.
The soil samples collected from GP-1 through GP-10 will be submitted for the following laboratory
analyses:
• Total petroleum hydrocarbon (TPH)gasoline range organics(GRO) using USEPA Method 8015B
• Benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylene (BTEX) and methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE) by
United States Environmental Protection Agency(USEPA) Method 82608
• California Assessment Manuals(CAM) metals using USEPA Method 601oB/7471A and Titanium
• OC Pesticides per USEPA 8141A
On-site qualified BB&J professionals will supervise drilling. Sampling will include the collection and
laboratory analyses of Quality Assurance/Quality Control samples consisting of equipment rinsate blank.
3
Three Embarcadero Center 13`h Floor,San Francisco,CA 94111
