May 29, 1987 - _ - AGS 87050-1
USA Station #65, Lodi, California
SOIL BORING/SAMPLING
The soil borings will be excavated using a drilling rig equipped
with eight inch diameter continuous-flight, hollow-stem augers.
No drilling fluids or additives will be used. 'Auger flights will
be steam cleaned -before to use to minimize the possibility of
down-hole or cross-hole contamination.
The drilling will be- performed under the guidance of a field
-
geologist and the earth materials in the boring will be logged as
drilled. During drilling., soil samples will be collected at 5-
foot intervals using a California modified split spoon sampler
( 2-1/2 inch I .D. ) equipped with laboratory-cleaned brass sleeves.
Samples will be- collected by advancing the boring to a point
immediately above the sampling depth; then driving the sampler
into the native soil through the hollow center of the auger. The
sampler will be driven- 18 inches with a standard 140 pound_ hammer
dropped 30 inches. The number of blows required to drive the
sampler each successive 6 inches will be counted andrecorded to-
give
ogive an indication of -soil consistency. Copies of a Field Boring
Log, as well as a Boring Log Plate used in our final report, are
included with this work plan.
.4,00/ied GeoSystems
