' 21 November 2001
AGE-NC Project No 98-0497
' other target contaminants in ground water and to characterize ground water flow direction and
gradient on the site
' 2 1 WELL MONITORING AND EVACUATION
On 30 August 2001, a Solmst water level meter was used to measure the depth to groundwater from
the well casing tops in wells MW-I through MW-3 The depths to ground water are summarized in
' Table 1
After water levels were gauged, a disposable plastic bailer was used to evacuate (purge) each
' monitoring well of a minimum of three casing-water volumes (approximately 8 to 8 25 gallons) of
water Temperature, pH, and conductivity were measured at approximately two-gallon intervals
using a Hydac water analyzer The field data sheets are included in Appendix A Purged water was
stored on site in 55-gallon drulzis
• 22 GROUND WATER SAMPLE COLLECTION
Prior to the collection of ground water samples, the depth to ground water was re-measured in each
' well to ensure that a minimum of 80% of the initial water volume had recharged Water samples
were then collected from each well using a clean, disposable plastic bailer The water was transferred
into one I-liter amber bottle and two chilled 40-m1 volatile organic analysis (VOA) vials containing
' 0 5 ml hydrochloric acid(18%) as a sample preservative After collection, the samples were labeled
and placed in a chilled container for transportation under chain-of custody to McCampbell
Analytical Laboratories (MAI),a DHS-certified analytical laboratory Each sample was analyzed for
' the following
' & TPH-g and TPH-d in accordance with EPA Method 8015 Modified, and
• BTEX and MTBE in accordance with EPA Method 8020
3.0. FINDINGS
' Ground water elevation and flow direction were inferred from field data; hydrocarbon-mipacf to-
ground
oground water and soil was assessed by laboratory analysis of the ground water samples
' 1404need GeoEnviroament4Ine
1
