Geological Technia Inc. 'NNW Page 8
ftw, Additional Pilot Test Work Plan
Project No.770.2
October 30,2008
r.
■ Collect data for actual vacuum flow and contaminant concentrations and temperature.
■ Delineate the area of influence from the applied vacuum and groundwater draw down
through use of observation wells. ? 1
4.3 Equipment
r
■ A self contained trailer—mounted unit will be procured with liquid ring blower, water
transfer tank, thermal oxidizer and control panel.
r. ■ A temporary propane tank will be used as fuel for the thermal oxidizer unit.
■ Hoses will be used to connect the well heads to a manifold on the trailer input pipe.
■ A 4000-gallon tank trailer will be used to hold the extracted water and then it will be
hauled off at periodic intervals to a licensed disposal facility.
4.4 Phased Dual Phase Extraction Tests
The first test will start with extraction from well MW-5 which is the most heavily impacted
well. GTI will attempt to minimize groundwater extraction and maximize extraction
efficiency with vacuum influence measured in adjacent monitoring wells screened across the
water table (MW-4 and MW-7) in new wells pairs IW-1/101, EW-1/101, EW-2/102 and EW-
3/103. The test will continue for 5 days and 3 groundwater and 3 air samples will be
collected for the analyses mentioned in Section 6.0. Vacuum, OVM, and groundwater depth
will be measured a minimum of 10 times in the above mentioned wells over the course of the
5 day test. The system is turned off for 9 days to get back to the initial conditions before
`r starting the second test.
.. A second test will then be conducted by extracting from shallow vadose zone well EW-1
(installed for bioventing) with vacuum influence measured in deep vadose zone wells EW-
101, EW-102 and EW-103 and the adjacent monitoring wells MW-4, MW-5 and MW-7. The
test will continue for 5 days and 3 groundwate samples, if-An and 3 air samples will be
collected for the analyses mentioned in Section 9.0. Vacuum, OVM, and groundwater depth
will again be measured a minimum of 10 times in the above mentioned wells over the course
., of the 5 day test. The system is turned off for 9 days to get back to the initial conditions
before starting the third test.
•r A third test will then be conducted by extracting from deep vadose zone well EW-101
(installed for bioventing) with vacuum influence measured in shallow vadose zone wells EW-
1, EW-2 and EW-3 and the adjacent monitoring wells MW-4, MW-5 and MW-7. The test
will continue for 5 days and 3 gro.ngwater and 3 air samples will be collected for the
analyses mentioned in the Section . Vacuum, OVM, and groundwater depth will be
measured a minimum of 10 times in the above mentioned wells over the course of the 5-day
test.
low
r
