The laboratory sample is 'taken from the bottom tube to minimize any,contamination <br /> ;from previous intervals whose soil may have sloughed to the bottom of the hole_ Therefore, <br /> soil contamination may actually be"Ilimited to an area around the former tank site, and the bulk <br /> of the fuel that leaked from the tanks is,in the groundwater. <br /> The water table was approximately 10:feet below ground level as the wells werke being drilled <br /> (Nov. 17 & 18th, 1993). Subsequent water levels after development and before sampling <br /> recorded water levels in the vicinity:of 11 feet below ground level. MW-3 has a protective <br /> 'steel casing installed approximately 2.5' above ground level and gives misleading "depth to <br /> 'water" readings.
