w
Ms. Mary Meays
August 29, 1991
Page 2
(County), to dispose the soils on the private property lot. Analytical
results were presented in the Tank Pull Report dated April 6, 1989.
Documentation to verify that the property owner received this clean soil
was not received.
Item 2.
Comment: Soil samples T-5,T-6, T-7,and T-8, taken December 20, 1988, from the
bottom of the tank pit associated with the former underground storage
tanks#3 and #4 indicated petroleum hydrocarbon contamination levels
from 120 parts per million (ppm) to 4,880 ppm TPH as gasoline. This
tank pit was backfilled January 20, 1989, in part with contaminated soil.
Further soil investigation will be necessary.
Response: Additional work has been performed to further evaluate the extent of
petroleum constituents detected near tank soil samples T-5,T-6,T-7,and
T-8. On August 10, 1989, soil boring SB-3 was advanced within the
former tank basin in the vicinity of tank samples T-5 and T-7. Three
ground water monitoring wells were also installed on August 11 and 13,
1989,around the former tank basin. Field activities and analytical results
were presented in a report submitted to the County entitled "Phase I
Hydrogeologic Assessment", dated October 20, 1989 (enclosed). This
report was reviewed and commented on by the County(enclosed letter).
A Preliminary Assessment Report (PAR) was prepared by Delta in
response to the County request and submitted to the County on
October 15, 1990(enclosed). Review comments have not been made by
the County regarding the PAR submittal.
Item 3.
Comment: Soil sample T-3, taken January 25, 1989, from the northern-most
dispenser indicated petroleum contamination levels of 1,500 ppm TPH
gasoline. Further soil investigation will be necessary.
Response: Additional work has been performed to further evaluate the extent of
petroleum constituents detected near pump island soil sample T-3. On
August 10, 1989, soil boring SB-1 was advanced near the pump island
soil sample T-3 (Figure 2). Field activities and analytical results were
reported in a report submitted to the County entitled "Phase I
Hydrogeologic Assessment" dated October 20, 1989 (enclosed).
