ENVIRONMENTAL INVESTIGATION REPORT
Unocal Service Station No 5886
2701 West March Lane
Stockton California
Delta Project No D095-066
' Page 5
t Analytical results indicated two soil samples with detectable concentrations of benzene ranging from 0 010
to 0 026 milligrams per kilogram(mg/kg) Concentrations of toluene, ethylbenzene, total xylenes, TPH
' as gasoline, and TPH as diesel were also reported in several soil samples All halogenated volatile
organics were below the laboratory's limits of detection from soil sample T-6-4 Two semi-volatile
' organics (2-methylnaphthalene and naphthalene) were reported above the laboratory's limits of detection
Concentrations of chromium, lead, nickel, and zinc were also reported above the laboratory's limits of
detection, but each compound was below its respective Total Threshold Limit Concentration (TTLC)
' A tabulation of the laboratory analytical results are presented in Table 1 (Product Dispenser, Delivery
Line Trenches, and Canopy Footing Soil Sample Analytical Results) and copies of the laboratory
' analytical reports and chain-of-custody documentation are presented in Appendix C,Laboratory Analytical
Reports and Cham-of-Custody Documentation
Soil samples collected from the original three stockpiles on July 27, 1995 (Figure 3) were all analyzed
for TPH as gasoline, TPH as diesel, and BTEX using the above-referenced methods The sample from
soil pile 2 was also analyzed for halogenated volatile organics and semi-volatile organics Following the
' addition of soil from the product trenches and canopy footings, four additional soil samples were collected
on July 31, 1995, from each soil pile and were composited into one for analysis by the laboratory for
' disposal options One composite soil sample was also analyzed for total lead A tabulation of stockpiled
sod data is presented in Table 2 (Stockpiled Soil Sample Analytical Results) and copies of the laboratory
' analytical results and chain-of-custody documentation are presented in Appendix C
' 4 1 3 Stockpiled Soil Disposal
SJCEHD was verbally notified of the stockpiled soil sampling on August 1, 1995 Following notice to
' SJCEHD, Manley & Sons Trucking, Inc (Manley) transported the soil to Forward Landfill in Stockton,
California on August 1, 1995 The soil was stockpiled at Forward Landfill prior to disposal pending
' Delta's receipt of the analytical results Upon receiving the analytical results, Delta prepared and
submitted soil profiling forms to Forward Landfill With SJCEHD's authorization, Forward Landfill
disposed of the soil on October 4, 1995, under Forward's approval numbers 4409 and 4410 Copies of
Forward's soil disposal confirmation acceptance letters are presented in Appendix D
RPT160 SJS
