Soil Laboratory Anal ses
Soil samples were analyzed for TPH in accordance with EPA method 8015 and for volatile
aromatic compounds (BTEX) to accordance with EPA method 8020 In addition, several
' samples were analyzed for total lead using EPA method 7421 All soil samples were analyzed
by a California State-certified laboratory in accordance with State guidelines and EPA protocols
Results of laboratory analyses of soil samples are presented in Appendix D
' Installation of Monitoring Wells
' The monitoring wells were constructed and installed in the following manner Four itch flush
threaded schedule 40 PVC casing with threaded end caps was placed in the well through the
auger The screen PVC casing consists of 0 02 itch screen No 3 sand was poured down the
' auger while removing 5 feet of auger at a time The filter pack was placed 2 to 31 feet above
the screened interval A minimum of 3 feet of granular bentonite was poured to form a seal
A concrete slurry was also set through the auger to 1 foot below grade A flush mounted water-
tight well lid was installed at 1 inch above the surface of the surrounding area
Well Development
The monitoringwell was developed using a sure block for at least 20 minutes and then pumped
P g g
until the well was free of fines and the effluent was clear The well was allowed to(stand for a
period of time to regain equilibrium prior to sampling
Groundwater Sampling
The monitoring well was purged with a submersible pump until at least three well volumes had
been removed Groundwater samples were collected using a new disposable batter and placed
' in the appropriate containers in the appropriate manner The samples were labeled land placed
in a cooler at 4 degrees centigrade and transported to the Iaboratory with a proper chain of
' custody (Appendix E)
Groundwater Analyses
' Analyses of the groundwater was performed by a Caltforma certified laboratory in accordance
with State guidelines and EPA protocols The samples were analyzed for all constituents by EPA
methods 8015 and 8020 In addition, the samples were analyzed for total lead using EPA method
7421
 $ 112571 Rn
