. 07 June 2002
AGE-NC Project No. 95.0185
Page 4 of b
4.1. DRILLING AND SAMPLING
A soil boring for installation of a ground water well will be advanced to a depth of 30 feet bsg
utilizing a truck-mounted, hollow-stem drill rig and 8-inch diameter hollow-stem augers; three soil
borings for installation of ozone sparge wells will be advanced to a depth of 40 feet bsg utilizing
8-inch diameter hollow--stein augers. Soil cuttings and rinseate generated during drilling activities will
be containerized in properly labeled DOT-approved 55-gallon drums, and stored on-site in an area
lacking public access. Disposal alternatives for rinseate and stockpiled soil will be selected based on
results of a laboratory analysis.
Soil samples will be collected at five-foot intervals for logging purposes, beginning at a depth of
5 feet bsg; at least one soil sample per every 15 linear feet will be analyzed by a State of California
Department of Health Services (DHS)-certified laboratory for the following constituents:
• Total petroleum hydrocarbons as gasoline and diesel(TPH•-g and TPH-d)in accordance with
EPA Method 8015 Modified;
• Benzene,toluene,ethylbenzene and total xylene(BTEX compounds)and methyl tertiary butyl
ether (MTBE) in accordance with EPA Method 8020;
Fuel oxygenated compounds including MTBE, tertiary-amyl methyl ether (TAME), di-
isopropyl ether(DIPS),ethyl tertiary-butyl ether(ETBE)and tertiary butanol(TBA)by EPA
method 8260 Modified.
Laboratory reports for soil analysis, testing methods, laboratory quality assurance/quality control
(QA/QC) reports, and sample chain of custody documentation will be presented in a report with
findings and recommendations. '
4.2. WELL COMPLETION
The ground water monitoring well will be completed utilizing a single 2-inch diameter schedule 40
f polyvinylchloride (PVC) well casing with 15 feet of 0.020-inch slotted well screen; proposed
monitoring well construction diagram is depicted in Figure 4.
soil boring=will.be advanced for_the.installation_of,six,sparge_points.._.Following advancement
of the soil boring, two manufacturer-assembled 2-inch by 30-inch microporous sparge points and
casings will be installed in each boring; the sparge points will be installed at depths of approximately
25 feet bsg and 40 feet bsg. A3/4-inch PVC riser will connect the sparge points to a surface ozone
generator. A proposed ozone sparge well construction diagram is depicted in Figure 5:
Advanced GeoEnvironmenW,Inc.
