I <br /> 04 December 2002 <br /> AGE-NC Project No 00-0764 <br /> ' Page 2 of 4 <br /> Immediately upon retrieval, samples were transferred into chilled 40-m1 EPA-approved volatile <br /> I ' organic analysis (VOA) vials containing 0 5 ml hydrochloric acid(18%) as a sample preservative <br /> The samples were properly labeled, placed in a chilled container and transported under <br /> chain-of-custody to Cal Tech Environmental Laboratories (CTEL), a California Department of Health <br /> Services-certified analytical laboratory located in Paramount,California Each sample was analyzed <br /> in accordance with <br /> ' • EPA Method 8015 Modified for total petroleum hydrocarbons quantified as gasoline <br /> (TPH-g) and <br /> ' • EPA Method 8260B for volatile organic compounds (VOCs), including benzene, toluene, <br /> ethylbenzene and total xylenes (BTEX), the fuel additives di-isopropyl ether(DIPE), ethyl <br /> ' tertiary butyl ether(ETBE), methyl tertiary butyl ether(MTBE), tertiary amyl methyl ether <br /> (TAME) and tertiary butyl alcohol (TBA), and the lead scavengers 1,2-dichloroethane <br /> (1,2-DCA) and ethylene dibromide (EDB) <br /> 3.4. FINDINGS <br /> Ground water elevation, flow direction and gradient were determined from field data collected an <br /> 30 September 2002, the contaminant impact to ground water was quantified from the ground water <br /> ' laboratory data <br /> ' 3 1 GROUND WATER ELEVATION AND GRADIENT <br /> ' Depths to ground water ranged between 29 56 and 30 83 feet below the top of the casings Ground <br /> water was within the screened intervals of wells MW-1 through MW-4,which should yield samples <br /> fully representative of shallow ground water conditions,well MW-5 was screened at approximately <br /> ' 35 feet below the water table and should yield water samples representative of deeper ground water <br /> conditions <br /> The elevation of ground water in each well was calculated by subtracting the ground water depth <br /> ' from the surveyed casing elevation Ground water elevations at the site ranged between 18 35 feet <br /> (MW-1) to 18 88 feet (MW-5) below mean sea level The relative ground water elevation data is <br /> ' summarized in Table 1 <br /> I <br /> Ground water flow direction in the area of the former USTs was inferred to be towards the east at <br /> ' a gradient of approximately 0 005 (ft/ft), as depicted in Figure 3 <br /> ' Advanced GeoEnvironmental,Inc <br /> 1 <br />
