2.2 Initial Investigation In December 1990, one groundwater monitoring %}ell (MSV-1) was installed at the site by ' Roger Foott Associates, Inc The well was installed in response to previous work at the site which indicated that hydrocarbon impacted soil and/or groundwater may have been present Soil samples collected during the installation of MW-1 indicated that petroleum hydrocarbon impacted soil was present at the site, a groundwater sample from the well indicated that total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH as gasoline) and volatile aromatics (BTE&X) were ' present in groundwater at the site ' 2.3 UST Renio%al In August 1993, one 550-gallon waste oil UST t»o 4,000-gallon gasoline USTs and two 5,000-gallon gasoline USTs were ienio\ed from the site by Jim Thoipe Oil of Lodi, California The tanks were removed fiom the north-central portion of the property During removal, three additional USTs were discovered near the \Nestern poitlon of the property ' These tanks \%ere apparently abandoned in place ho\\ever, it is our understanding that the San Joaquin County Public Health Services - EnviionmentaI Health Division has no record of the abandonment Soil samples collected at the time of the tank renio%als indicated the piesence of significant petiolewn hydiocaibon impacted Soil at the site 2.4 Assessment of I-I)diocaibon Irnpactcd Soil ' In 1993, four soil borings were dialled at the site by SEACOR Two boim2s \\ere located on-site and tv o xNeie located off-site Thiee of the hirings were complEted as 2-inch diameter groundwatei monitonirg wells Well M\V-? «as installed north of til\\'-1, acioss ' Monte Diablo Avenue, MW-3 was installed \rest of MW-1, across Buena Vista Avenue MW-4 was installed south of MW-1, near the northeast coiner of the on-site structure The fourth boring was completed as a 4-inch diameter xapor extraction well (V\V-1) near the center of the plopeity Low concentrations of petioleuni hydrocarbons were detected in soil samples from MVV-3, ' MW-4 and VW-1 No hydrocarbons were detected in soil samples from MW-2 Eight additional soil boiings xvere drilled in March 1994, under the supervision of SEACOR Seven of the eight soil boiings were dulled off-site, south and southwest of the site Information contained in the PAR indicates that impacted soil extends appioxmiately 180 ' to 200 feet off-site to the southwest, however, most of the off-site impacted soil contains very low concentrations of petroleum hydiocarbons 6roluprl AuJn Srni..Inc CFiaYfh FFCP/5955C 94 17 I056J'
