The Annual Report
summarizes the results of monitoring activities conducted in 2001 and proposes modifications to
Monitoring and Reporting Program (MRP)No. 5-01-821. KMEP proposes to remove total
petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) as diesel analysis and to change the report submittal dates to
coincide with the required first and third quarter monitoring events.
Board staff does not agree with removing TPH as diesel from the required monitoring list based
on its elevated concentrations in site monitoring wells. KMEP may submit the annual report
along with the third quarter monitoring report. This would satisfy the requirements of the MRP
and meet KMEP's request to not have to submit an additional report. Based on the additional
sampling KMEP is conducting to evaluate monitored natural attenuation (MNA), KMEP should
request changes to the MRP after the MNA evaluation is complete.
The next semiannual report is due by 30 April 2002.
