The work plan reflects the agreements reached during a telephone
conference call on 30 October 2000 between KMEP, LFR, and Board staff. The work plan proposes to
install a well cluster a monitoring well (MV) cluster downgradient of boring GP-9. The work plan is
hereby approved.
As stated in our 13 October 2000 letter, K1VlEP needs to confirm the elevated levels of constituents of
concern (COCl) detected in grab groundwater samples at GP-6 and GP-7. As discussed during our
conference call, installation of MWs at these locations at this time might be premature because
excavation could be the chosen alternative to clean up soil. Excavation at these locations would require
decommissioning of the MWs, resulting in wasted time and resources. Regardless of the remedial
alternative to clean up soil and groundwater, MWs eventually will have to be installed at or in the
vicinity of GP-6 and GP-7 to confirm the elevated levels of CDCs.
Based on our 22 November 2000 telephone conversation with Mr. Scott Armstrong of LFR, please
submit a report on the MW cluster installation near GP-9 by 1 March 2001.
If you have any questions, you may call me at (916) 255-3081 or e-mail at isorenp@rb5s.swrcb.ca.gov.
PK1L P 9.
