' Harlin Knoll <br /> September 23, 1994 <br /> Page 3 <br /> Residual gasoline, used oil, and mixed oil and water were flushed from the product lines prior to <br /> removal The residual product was contained in three DOT-approved 55-gallon drums These <br /> drums remain on-site pending proper waste characterization and disposal <br /> Photographs of th <br /> e demolition and line removal activities are presented in Appendix 1 <br /> 2 3 Sampling Procedures <br /> On August 10, 1994, three soil samples, 1 A-3, 1 B-3 and TSW-1-1, were collected along the <br /> excavated gasoline product line runs On August 12, seven additional samples, T2 through T8 were <br /> collected at depths of three to four feet below the piping (Figure 2) Samples WO-1 through WO-4 <br /> 1 were collected from beneath the oil supply/used-oil line excavation at depths ranging from 3 5 to <br /> 5 feet <br /> Samples were collected under the direction of Mr Harlin Knoll of the San Joaquin County <br /> Environmental Health Division following the sampling procedures and protocol summarized In <br /> Appendix 2 As required by Mr Knoll, soil samples collected from beneath the gasoline product <br /> lines were analyzed for TPH as gasoline, BTEX, and total lead Samples collected from beneath the <br /> oil supply/used oil lines were analyzed for TPHj, volatile organics, total oil and grease, PCBs, and <br /> CAM metals <br /> These soil samples were field screened with a photolonization detector (PID) using headspace <br /> methodologies Results of the field screening ranged from 0 to 150 parts per million (ppm) The soil <br /> samples were sent by overnight delivery to GTEL Environmental Laboratories in Concord, California, <br /> for analysis <br /> 2.4 Analytical Results <br /> Four soil samples from the gasoline product line excavations contained concentrations o centrations of TPH9 that <br /> ranged from 1 8 to 5 8 milligrams per kilogram (mg/kg) Six samples were below reporting limits <br />' (<1 mg/kg) for TPH9 Benzene ranged from below reporting limits in 8 samples to 0 058 mg/kg <br /> Total lead ranged from below the reporting limit to 18 mg/kg The results for the soil samples <br /> collected from the gasoline product line excavation are presented in Table 1 <br /> The EPA 413 2 analysis results indicated concentrations of total oil and grease from 6 mg/kg to <br /> 460 mg/kg in samples collected from the oil suppiy/used oil line trench Total petroleum <br /> hydrocarbons as diesel and all EPA 8010 compounds were below reporting limits Polychlorinated <br /> biphenyls were below reporting limits Pesticide concentrations of 2 3 and 1 3 micrograms per <br /> kilogram of 4,4-DDE and 4,4-DDD, respectively, were detected in sample WO2-3 5 Results for sorl <br /> 1288GAS RPT 000 GROUNDWATER <br /> saw,#1288 slockton ❑�❑ TECHNOLOGY <br />
