Section 10-2 Specific Requirements for Well Destruction
Well Destruction Specifications Special
10-2 .3 SURFACE PREPARATION
A hole shall be excavated around the well casing, and the
casing shall be cut off 5 feet bgs to allow grout to spill over
into the excavation to form a cap.
The contract price pad for surface preparation shall include
full compensation for furnishing all labor, materials, tools,
equipment and incidentals, and for doing all the work involved in
providing and removing adequate sheeting, shoring, bracing, sloping
or equivalent method for workers' protection, as specified in the
Standard Specifications, and as directed by the Engineer.
10-2 .4 GROUTING
Each well shall be grout sealed using neat cement having a
minimum cement factor of 5 under a pressure of 50 psi . Grout shall
be poured in one continuous operation by methods that prevent free
fall, dilution, and/or separation of aggregates from the cementing
materials . The pressure shall be maintained on the grouted zones
for a minimum of 4 hours . The grout shall be allowed to spill over
into the excavation described in Section 10-2 .3 to form a cap. The
cap shall be a minimum of 6 inches thick. To assure each well has
been completely grouted, engineer shall verify that the volume of
grout placed in the well is equal to or greater than the volume of
the empty well .
Specific grouting specifications unique to each well are
described below:
Well Grouted interval (bos)
LVMD1 4 .5' to 187'
LVMD2 4 .5' to 252'
LVMD4 4 .5' to 195'
LVMD6 4 . 5 ' to 254'
The contract price paid for grouting shall include full
compensation for furnishing all labor, materials, tools, equipment
and incidentals, and for doing all the work involved in placement
of grout in accordance with these specifications .
10-2 .5 SURFACE REPARATION AND COMPLETION
The hole shall be backfilled with native soil after the grout
has set. The surface shall be graded and compacted to avoid the
ponding of water. Sites located in paved areas must be repaved to
match existing surfaces .
The contract price paid for surface reparation shall include
full compensation for furnishing all labor, materials, tools,
equipment and incidentals, and for doing all the work involved for
complete reparation of well site surfaces including backfill,
compaction, grading, and packement replacement where required.
6691\SPECS\SECTION.102
