RPR 28 '98 10:42 FR L.EVINE-FRICKE-RECON 510 6524906 TO 12094683433 P.04i19
Levine-Fricke-Recon
TS
LFR will also construct a temporary Storage area of approximately 40 feet by 25 feet in the
southeast corner of Lincoln Center to hold nonliquid wastes (soil and drilling mud) generated
during field activities at Lincoln Center (Figure 3). Construction of the temporary storage area
will include removing the existing asphalt and replacing it with a concrete pad. The pad will be
surrounded by a 8-foot-tall chainlink fence. As-built design drawings for the temporary storage
area will be provided under separate cover.
Equipment and materials used during construction of the temporary Storage area will be stored in
the staging area at the end of each work shift. In accordance with the 1998 Access Agreement, the
area surrounding the temporary storage area will be repaired to its original condition.
Groundwater Conveyance System Installation
The groundwater conveyance system will consist of a double-contained water line and several
electrical conduits buried in a trench that will connect each of the groundwater extraction wells to
the treatment system. Electrical service and control wires in the conduits will power and control
the operation of each extraction well. The general alignment of the trench is shown on Figures 1,
2, and 3. Before conducting these construction activities, buried utilities that are present along the
proposed pipeline alignment will be located and marked on the ground with paint to prevent any
contact with utilities during trenching and pipeline installation. Trenches will be excavated to a
depth of approximately 3 feet and will be covered by surface trench plates. After approximately
three days of trenching, the plates will be lifted, piping and conduit will be laid in the trench, and
the trench will be backfilled. The asphalt surface will be replaced before moving on to excavate
the next section of trench.
After trenching is completed, the 12-inch-diameter well boxes installed previously to complete the
groundwater extraction wells will be removed and replaced with 4foot-square utility vaults. The
conveyance pipeline will be connected to these vaults and wellheads, and all in-vault well pumps,
pipes, valves, and wiring will be connected.
At the end of each work shift, any waste materials or debris generated during field activities will
be removed and the work area along the trench alignment will be cleaned. Upon completion of
this fieldwork, the area along the piping alignment will be restored to its original condition.
The groundwater treatment system will be built on LPL's adjacent property, as shown on
Figure 3. Materials for the construction of the groundwater treatment system will be stored in the
staging area for a short period.
System Startup
Immediately following the completion of the extraction and treatment system installation, LFR
will again access the extraction system to test the in-well equipment, controls, and pumps. The
areas surrounding the wells selected for testing will be blocked off the night before testing by
placing cones around the well vault and an adjacent parking stall (to accommodate support
LQ-Ac 3e Fahm.Ex WC1,44111:SRL 3
