Levine-Fricke-Recon
ENGINEERS,HYDROGEOLOGISTS&APPLIED SCIENTISTS
Field Activities
Two field activities are to be conducted as part of the Phase I IRA installation on the Subject
Property. The first activity will be the installation of two groundwater extraction wells at the
locations as shown in Figure 1. The second activity will occur in between the two well installations
and will consist of the installation of underground conveyance piping and electrical service conduits
in trenches as shown in Figure 1. Installation of service vaults for the two extraction wells will
occur after the wells are installed. Installation of electrical service and controls within the vaults and
the connecting conduits will occur at night during a separate phase of field construction following
completion of Chevron's current remodeling.
As discussed with Mr. Garrett and Chevron's contractor, after LFR's installation work is
completed, LFR will backfill the trenches to a height just below the current pavement surface. The
trenches will then be repaved by Chevron's contractor as part of the asphalt pavement overlayment
work.
Before field activities are conducted on the Subject Property, any buried utilities that are present in
the parking lot in the vicinity of the trench alignment and the extraction well locations will be
located and marked on the asphalt to prevent any contact with utilities during drilling or trenching.
Field Equipment
Field equipment for the extraction well installation will consist of a mud-rotary drilling rig, shaker
trailer, and support vehicles. The work space at each location will be approximately 30 feet by 60
feet, covering an area of approximately 1,800 square feet. The work space will be cordoned off
during the drilling period to prohibit access by unauthorized personnel. Field equipment for the
trenching work will likely be limited to a rubber-tired backhoe and a small dump truck. Support
vehicles will be moved off the Subject Property at the end of each work shift. Representatives of
Lincoln Properties, Ltd. may also be in attendance to oversee field activities.
Field Personnel
Mr. Donald T. Bradshaw, R.G., Site Project Manager, oversees all aspects of the construction at
the Lincoln Center site and can be contacted at (510) 596-9559. Mr. Alger, Senior Engineering
Geologist, is responsible for supervising the field personnel conducting Phase I IRA tasks and can
be contacted at (510) 596-9683.
Schedule
As discussed with Mr. Garrett during the site meeting held on Friday, February 20, 1998, the
schedule for these field activities is somewhat dependent on weather conditions and progress made
by Chevron's remodeling contractor. We have tentatively scheduled drilling of the first and second
extraction wells beginning on March 1 I and March 20, 1998, respectively. Trenching is tentatively
Ur-Access-Chevron-trewhes-04111:SRL 2
