� %4001 <br /> 2.2 SITE HEALTH AND SAFETY OFFICER <br /> The appointed Health and Safety Officer (HSO) will be a member of the <br /> ERM-West project field team. The HSO responsibilities include <br /> enforcing the requirements of this HSP once work begins. By design, <br /> the HSO has the authority to immediately correct all situations where <br /> noncompliance with this HSO is noted and to immediately stop work <br /> in cases where an immediate danger is perceived. The HSO's specific <br /> responsibilities include: <br /> • Procuring and distributing the PPE and air monitoring <br /> instrumentation needed for the project. <br /> • Verifying that all PPE and health and safety equipment is in good <br /> working order. <br /> • Setting up and maintaining the personnel decontamination <br /> facility. <br /> • Controlling site entry of unauthorized personnel. <br /> • Supervising and monitoring the safety performance of all <br /> personnel to ensure that required safety and health procedures are <br /> followed, and correcting any deficiencies. <br /> • Conducting accident/incident investigations and preparing <br /> investigation reports. <br /> • Initiating emergency response procedures. <br /> 2.3 DIRECTOR, HEALTHY AND SAFETY <br /> ERM-West's Director of Health and Safety (DHS) is the individual <br /> responsible for the preparation, interpretation and modification of the <br /> HSP. Modifications to this HSP which may result in less stringent <br /> precautions cannot be undertaken by the PM or the HSO without the <br /> approval of the DHS. Specific responsibilities of the DHS include: <br /> • Advising the PM and HSO on matters relating to health and safety <br /> on this project. <br /> • Recommending appropriate PPE and air monitoring <br /> instrumentation to protect personnel from potential hazards <br /> present on the site. <br /> 2-2 <br />
