a.0 DECONTAMINATXON PROCEDURES <br /> Decontamination of equipment and personnel is necessary to <br /> confine contaminants to the site and preclude migration <br /> elsewhere. An on-site area will be designated (Decontamination <br /> Zone) for decontaminaticn of equipment. The general steps tu be <br /> followed are: <br /> - Establish an equipment drop area; <br /> - Wash equipment with an Alconox detergent and c.'Lean <br /> water rinse, or steam clean equipment; and <br /> - properly contain and store effluent generated from <br /> decontamination procedures. <br /> Decontamination of personnel will consist primarily oa <br /> soap (Alconox) and water rinsing of exterior protective gearf to <br /> remove contaminants, followed by removal of the gear. <br /> Disposable coveralls will be removed by turning the clothing <br /> inside out. Clean water will be provided to rinse work gloves <br /> and boots. The general steps to be followed are: <br /> - Wash protective gear with an Alconox detergent and <br /> clean water rinse; <br /> - properly contain and store effluent generated from <br /> decontamination procedures; and <br /> - Wash face and hands. <br /> The above listed equipment and personnel decontamination <br /> requirements/procedures are minimums. The sso can require <br /> additional washing, or other modifications to the procedures as <br /> deemed appropriate. <br /> No activities that increase the probability ox hand-to-mouth <br /> transfer and ingestion of materials, including but not limited <br /> toto gum or tobacco chewing, smoking, eating and drinking, wbe <br /> permitted until the individual has successfully completed <br /> decontamination. <br /> 9.o DISPOSAL PROCEDURES <br /> All waste materials including, but not limited to, soil <br /> cuttings, purge and development water, decontamination fluids <br /> and discarded protective clothing and equipment will be handled <br /> project No. 1.232 -14- <br />
