All soil samples were tested for TPH using modified
EPA Method 8015. Additionally, the soil samples from beneath
the sewer line were tested for volatile organic compounds (VOCs)
using EPA Method 8240, and the soil samples from beneath the
product lines were tested for BTXE using EPA Method 8020. The
results of the testing are shown on Tables 1 and 2. The
laboratory reports are contained in Appendix C.
5.o DISCUSSION
5.1 SEWER LINE SAMPLES
No TPH were detected in any of the three soil samples
associated with the sewer line. However, minor concentrations
of BTXE, bro:moform, carbon disulfide, chloroform,
tetrachloroethane, trichloroethene, 1,1,2,2-tetrachloroethane,
1,1,1--trichloroethane and 1,1,2-trichloroethane were detected
(see Table 1) .
E
5.2 PRODUCT LINE SAMPLES
" TPH (844 ppm) , ethylbenzene (0.65 ppm) and xylenes (9.55
ppm) were only detected in soil sample PL-7 @ 4-4.51 . Benzene
was not detected in any soil samples collected beneath the
product lines. Toluene was detected in three soil samples with
q concentrations ranging from 0.07 ppm to 0.95 ppm (see Table 2) .
6.0 CONCLUSIONS
Based upon the data contained in the reports referenced in
Section 1.0, and from completion of the investigations
associated with the sewer and product lines, the following are
concluded:
Ground water was not encountered in any of the borings
(maximum depth of 51.5 feet bgs) , drilled as part of the
investigations completed to date. The depth to ground
water at the Site is believed to exceed 60 feet bgs.
3 -
Project No. 1232 --5--
ENVIN0,VN WTU Wim,,,xc.
