Fourth-Quarter 1996 Monitoring Report. Cargill Feed Product Facility at Port Road
No. 8, Stockton, California; Sierra-Pacific Project No. 95-128.05
Dear Mr. Holm:
Three monitoring wells were installed at the Port Road No. 8 facility on 10 October 1996. The wells were
developed and surveyed on 15 October 1996. The wells were measured and sampled on 20 November 1996.
The Fourth-Quarter 1996 Monitoring Report is enclosed for your review. Field observations and test results
indicate the following:
• Groundwater was flowing S 57' E with a gradient of 0.003 on 20 November 1996. Inflow from the
nearby San Joaquin River apparently drives the flow of ground water at Port Road No. 8 and dictates
the flow-direction.
• N-NO3 and TKN concentrations detected in the shallow ground-water were relatively low, probably
due in part to the natural flushing effect of inflow from the San Joaquin River.
• Elevated bicarbonate, chlorine, and cation concentrations in ground water samples collected at the
Port of Stockton appear to be derived from the intrusion of mineral-bearing (connate) ground-water.
Please call if you have questions or directives.
Sincerely,
SIERRA-PACIFIC GROUNDWATER CONSULTANTS, INC.
VStepxh_eapp, CEG-1133
Senior Engineering Geologist
JSR/jb
Enclosure
C.
